DATEV import

Import booked entries from your accountant, mapped to canonical categories with SKR presets.

DATEV is the fastest way to give Foreqast a complete, booked history: your accountant already maintains it, and it is the same data your annual accounts are built from.

What to ask your accountant for

A DATEV export of booked entries (Buchungsstapel) covering as much history as you have — 24 months is the maximum Foreqast uses, and 12 is enough for a usable forecast. The export declares its account scheme, SKR03 or SKR04, in the file header.

How the mapping works

Every posting carries an account number. Foreqast maps those numbers to its own canonical categories using SKR03 and SKR04 presets, so a standard chart of accounts maps correctly on the first pass without any manual work.

Accounts the presets do not recognise land in Other, which is deliberate: the totals still tie out, and Other becoming large is the signal that something needs mapping rather than a number quietly going missing.

After the import

Check your revenue and payroll totals against a month you know. These two lines carry most of the forecast, so if they are right the rest usually is.
Look at Other. More than a few percent of operating costs means accounts worth mapping explicitly.
Re-import as your accountant books. Each import updates the actuals; the forecast rebuilds from them automatically.

Booked entries are accrual data — they say when something was earned or incurred, not when the money moved. Pair DATEV with bank sync if you want the cash line anchored to a real balance too.
