Price increase calculator
A price rise almost never costs you the volume you fear, because the extra euro is pure contribution. This says exactly how much volume you could lose and still be better off — usually a much bigger number than people expect.

The number
The extra euro is all margin
Raising a €79 price by 8% adds €6.32, and none of it has a cost attached. On a €37 contribution that is a 17% increase in margin per unit — which is why you can lose about 15% of volume and still come out ahead.
Tolerable volume loss = 1 − (old contribution ÷ new contribution)
Getting it right
- The lower your contribution margin, the more volume a price rise can afford to lose.
- Most businesses lose far less volume than they fear — measure it on one segment before rolling it out.
- A price rise on a subscription shows up as revenue churn if customers downgrade rather than leave.

Questions
Price increase calculator — What people ask about it
How much can I raise prices without losing customers?
Under 10% rarely moves volume noticeably in most B2B and premium consumer markets, especially with notice and a reason. The break-even loss in this calculator is the number to hold against your fear — if you can lose 15% and still gain, a 5% risk is not the problem.
Should I raise prices for existing customers too?
New customers first is the low-risk path, but it means your best customers are your worst-paying ones within two years. Most businesses end up doing both, with more notice for the existing base.
